How do you write I Love You in bubble letters?
- Decide on one, two or three lines. I LOVE YOU has eight letters in three words. On a wide banner, one line works. On a card, try I LOVE on top and YOU underneath, or stack all three words with LOVE biggest in the middle.
- Make the I a real letter. A lone I can shrink to a thin stick and get lost. Give it the same height as the other letters and about half the width of the O, with rounded serifs at top and bottom so it looks like a bubble letter, not a line.
- Leave word gaps wider than letter gaps. Inside a word, letters can touch or overlap. Between words, leave a gap about as wide as half a letter. Without it, the phrase reads as ILOVEYOU.
- Match the two O shapes. The O in LOVE and the O in YOU should be the same size. Draw the first, then copy its width for the second. Mismatched O's are the first thing people notice.
- Keep the Y above the line. The capital Y in YOU sits on the baseline like the others. Round the fork into a soft V shape and make the stem short and fat so it does not look taller than the O and U.

Colors and decorations for I Love You
Warm sunset fades (yellow to orange to pink) suit this phrase and keep it from looking only like a Valentine's card. To make LOVE stand out, color I and YOU in one shade and LOVE in a stronger one, such as red. Hearts can replace the dot of an exclamation mark or sit between the words as spacers. Pastel pink, peach and lilac give a gentle look for baby showers and parent cards.
I Love You in graffiti letters
The graffiti image uses a throw-up: fast, round letters with a light fill and a heavy black outline, the kind writers paint in minutes. Three short words suit a throw-up well because the letters can be fat and bunched. Draw I LOVE YOU on one line with the letters overlapping inside each word. The throw-up guide shows how to build the shapes and outline.
