How do you write Happy Valentine's Day in bubble letters?
- Use three lines. HAPPY has 5 letters, VALENTINE'S has 10 plus an apostrophe, and DAY has 3. Stack them in that order and center each row. VALENTINE'S sets the width, so draw it first in pencil and fit the other two above and below.
- Keep the apostrophe. The holiday is Valentine's Day, so the apostrophe belongs before the S. Draw it as a small puffy teardrop or a tiny heart, sitting high between the E and S. Give it the same outline as the letters.
- Watch the repeated letters. HAPPY has a double P, and VALENTINE'S has two N's and two E's. Draw each pair the same size so the word looks even. The double P can share a little overlap, with the second P tucked behind the first.
- Round the V and the points of A. V and the two A's have sharp tops or bottoms. Soften them into rounded curves so they match the round letters around them. Keep the A's crossbar hole small and high.
- Shrink DAY slightly. DAY is only three letters. Make it the same height as HAPPY, or a little smaller, and center it under the middle of VALENTINE'S. Y sits on the baseline like D and A.
Ideas for Happy Valentine's Day in bubble letters
- Class Valentine's cards: print the outline version several times, and let kids color one for each classmate.
- Valentine's box or mailbox: glue the colored print to a shoebox decorated for the class card exchange.
- Classroom door or bulletin board: enlarge the three lines and print them on separate sheets.
- Card for a partner: hand-draw it on red cardstock and add a short note inside. For a shorter front, use LOVE in bubble letters.
- Party sign or cupcake topper: shrink the PNG, print, cut out and tape to a toothpick.
Colors and decorations for Happy Valentine's Day
Red, pink and purple are the expected colors; a pink to purple fade on every letter keeps all 18 letters looking like one set. Try red for VALENTINE'S and pink for HAPPY and DAY to give the middle row weight. Decorate with small hearts in the empty corners, a heart for the apostrophe, white shine marks and maybe an arrow through the D. Keep the background light so the black outline stays sharp.
Happy Valentine's Day in graffiti letters
The graffiti image uses the Drip style, with paint running from the bottom of the letters. On a three-line phrase, put drips only under the bottom row (DAY), or they will run into the line below. Short drips under HAPPY look busy. See the styles page for other ways to make a long phrase look like graffiti.
