How do you write Happy Thanksgiving in bubble letters?
- Plan the long word first. THANKSGIVING needs the full width of the page. Mark 12 slots in pencil, with the I's narrowest and N, K and G a bit wider. Then fit HAPPY above it.
- Make HAPPY bigger. HAPPY has only 5 letters. Draw it about 30 percent taller than THANKSGIVING, or arch it over the second row like a rainbow.
- Get the K and the G's right. K has a stem, an arm and a leg. Join the arm and leg in one round blob at the stem. The two G's need a clear inward bar so they do not read as C.
- Keep the I's visible. THANKSGIVING has two I's. Give each one a fat capsule shape and the full letter height. Thin I's make the word look like THANKSGVNG.
- Split it if you must. On a narrow card, split it into THANKS / GIVING on two lines, with HAPPY above. Keep THANKS and GIVING the same letter height.
Ideas for Happy Thanksgiving in bubble letters

- Kids' table activity: print the outline and set out crayons while dinner cooks.
- Classroom "thankful" board: use the colored print as the title, with student notes below.
- Door sign or banner: print each word on its own sheet and string them up.
- Card for family far away: add a note under the letters, or use THANK YOU in bubble letters inside.
Colors and decorations for Happy Thanksgiving
Fall colors work best: orange, red, brown, gold and deep yellow. The Sunset palette, yellow to orange, is a good start. Color each letter like a falling leaf, or fade from gold on HAPPY to orange and brown on THANKSGIVING. Draw small leaves, a pumpkin, acorns or a turkey next to the first letter. A brown shadow fits better than black for a warm look.
Happy Thanksgiving in graffiti letters
The graffiti image uses Blockbuster letters, big and square with a deep extrude. A 12-letter word is tight in blockbusters, so keep the letters narrow and let them share edges. Run the extrude in one direction for both rows. Compare blockbusters with other styles on the styles page.
